    Same applications in diferent templates

    Hi,

When I add more then one template with the same application I cannot link them to the same host because the applications conflict with each other.

Why I can't have the same application in diferent templates? I think it would be great to have that.

If I add the applications after linking the template it works as expected.

I can't use applications to group items because of that problem.

    Thanks in advance,

    Rodrigo

I agree completely. I really dont see why you cant have the application "SERVICES" in two templates.

If i have a template called "EXCHANGE" and one called "WEB SERVER". In each template I want to monitor some services, "Information Store" in EXCHANGE and "WWW" in "Web Server".

Now, currently Im not allowed to do this, so i have to use "others" or something similar, and i really dont see why this should be the case.

Can anyone from Zabbix explain why this has been done, and when it will be resolved ?

The applications were designed as host attributes, multiple applications per host.

An application must be linked to a template to preserve data integrity and it creates problems when we are thinking of using one application in two templates linked to the same host. It is not supported currently. Not sure if it ever be supported without change of definition of what the "application" is.

That's really a bummer. I was trying to get this working but now I understand you actually can't use 'Application' to group e.g. services in different templates. One option that I really miss now in Zabbix...

Is this ever going to happen? It'd make Zabbix so much better

            It's in Zabbix 2.0 roadmap.

This surely is a must have

I am also looking to group montors into "Applications" and very much wish this to happen across templates.

It is possible to move the item when attached to a server, but this is slow and tedious.
