Eventlog() not returning anything

Hi,

I have an item whose key is eventlog(Application). Its set to be an agent (active) type of key, the type of data is log etc. It's all setup how the forums show it should be, and how the manual for 1.4 says it should be.

However, the item entry on the machines never updates. Its been a few days now, and all that is in the latest data entry for the eventlog item is ' - ', nothing more.

If i set it to a non-active agent, then it says its only available for active agents. Return it to active agent, and it doesnt update again.

Any ideas how I can find out what is happening with the eventlogs ?

Hi,

Make sure that in zabbix_agentd.conf on a Windows machine u have full machine name. (machine.domain.my), by default it is without domain.

# Unique hostname. Required for active checks.

Hostname=machine.domain.my

Should this be a valid internet FQDN or just valid for the internal network that the agent host sits on?

You should match the hostname in Zabbix and in your agent config file.
They need to be exactly the same.

I even think these are case sensitive, although I'm not sure.
