    Triggering emails

    I'm trying to get Zabbix to email me when an error status arises. However, I can't work out how to do it. There doesn't seem to be an explanation in the user guide. I'm using 1.4.2, and want an email to be sent when (for example) one of the servers being monitored has a load average greater than 5. Can someone give me some step by step instructions for doing this?

    Thanks

    administration->users
    open a user, under media click add
    Popup: Choose Email, enter email address in "send to", select the severities of triggers you'd like to be informed about.

    Configuration->Actions
    create a new action (I call mine "all triggers")
    Event source: triggers
    Conditions: none
    Operations: Add, send message to single user/user group (whatever you prefer)
    Click Add
    Make sure status is "enabled"
    Click save

    That should do the trick (assuming your mail system is configured correctly)

      Thanks very much -- however, when I click on "Administration", the page never loads. IE says "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage", and the server logs report

      [Mon Sep 10 11:57:53 2007] [notice] child pid 25854 exit signal Segmentation fault (11)

      Any suggestions?

        Well. I've recompiled PHP and Apache, and the segfault doesn't occur now.

          I've documented this in the Wiki, at http://www.zabbix.com/wiki/doku.php?id=howto:actions I think we all need to work to improve the documentation of Zabbix. It's a great product, but it's being let down as it's hard to work out how to do something.
