    Per Protocol Bandwidth Monitoring

    Hallo all

I don't know the SNMP protocol that well yet and thought I would ask here, would it be possible to monitor bandwidth usage per protocol eg http, SMTP, pop3 with zabbix via SNMP?

Any other way of doing it eg netflows?

Maybe some other way but not using Zabbix.

Maybe you can achieve this using RMON (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remote_monitoring). I have no experience with this so please share your results if you pursue this path.

monitoring per-protocol-bandwidth sounds really nice to me!

I would like to see some report, if (and maybe how) it works! =)

        thx,

I'm using a Packeteer box. It provides the data you need through SNMP and the MIBS downloadable from their site.
              See http://www.packeteer.com/products/packetshaper/
See attached png for an example...
