    zabbix agent versus snmp

    Hello all,

I would like to know the difference between monitoring linux servers with the zabbix agent and monitor them by using snmp traps.

Is zabbix agent better than snmp for linux servers? Does anybody know why?

    Best regards,
    JJ

I consider Zabbix Agent more flexible: you don't have to find OIDs for each and every element you want to monitor (from what I've seen, OIDs for disk usage are machine dependent and seem a bit difficult to include in template, but I may be wrong...).
UserParameters allow you to quickly expand zabbix agent (I love UserParameters items with parameters !)...

But I'd like to hear proponents of SNMP. There are probably things I've missed.
