    Snmp

    Hallo all

I have an Allot netenforcer here that I want to monitor. I downloaded the MIB's and added them to /usr/share/snmp/mibs.
Now according to this http://www.oidview.com/mibs/2603/md-2603-1.html the top oid is 1.3.6.1.4.1.2603.
When I run this snmpwalk -v2c -c public 192.168.0.25 1.3.6.1.4.1.2603 I get all the info I could ever want.
    But now!
How do I get this into zabbix in a sane way? Please tell me there is a way to do it in bulk and I don't have to go and put each item in by hand!
When I add an Item with that oid I get the following error
OID [.1.3.6.1.4.1.2603] value #2 has unknow type [80]

    Any advice?

As far as I know the only way to do it is one at a time. Its painfull as hell. I thought about writing a script for it but just decided to dig in and do it one by one for the few things I needed.

You are getting this because zabbix is expecting a single value not an MIB tree.

      bulk snmp

There just has to be an easier way!
I have 104 pipes in there and adding them all by hand is going to take me a day @ least.

I would suggest making life a bit easier then write a perl script to parse the output and use DBI to directly manipulate the DB for Zabbix. That is the quickest way i can tell you to do it. Do you really need the whole tree back though? Sounds a bit overkill to me maybe you should take a closer look at the tree and find the values you really need.

If there is an easier way I've not found what it is.

Adding the items is only half the battle, you'll then need to create triggers on each one you want to have it alert on.

I've resorted to writing my own template builder that fits the needs of the equipment I need to monitor.

            What builders have you got?
Any you would like to share?
