    IIS Application Pool

I have been asked if Zabbix can check to see if an application pool is running. I have Zabbix agentd 1.4.2 running already on the Win2003 server. When I do a typeperf -qx|find <app_pool_name>, I get nothing. If I search for a sub pool, I get many, many things under .NET Apps, .NET Applications, and .NET CLR. Being a Lunix guy rather than a Windows guy or even an IIS guy, I am not sure which item(s) I can monitor that will tell me if the application pool is running or if it needs to be restarted.

Has anyone had any luck in monitoring an application pool in IIS?

ps, the server is running zabix 1.4.2 under RHEL4.

    Thanx for any help.

I dont know of a way to do it with performance counters but I do remember seeing something that did report the state of an app pool. It was either a command line tool for IIS or a WMI object. Hope that helps - if you find anything be sure to post it back as I am sure others would like the same functionality.

One other thought is to create a web check to verify the state of the app pool (as well as IIS). This could be either to your webpage or a custom page built just for monitoring (but running within the same app pool).
