    IBM AS/400 Type:9406 Model:520 SNMP monitoring

    Hello,

    i would like to monitor our AS/400.
    Now it seems very hard to find specific mib information on internet for AS/400 (or i am looking at the wrong places).
    anyone has experience with this ?
    thnx.
    Philippe.

    You can access snmp mibs using snmpwalk from net-snmp.

    snmpwalk -v 1 -c public -t 10 192.168.##.## .1
    Snmp timeout set to 10 secs from default 1 sec.

    If snmp service is not started on AS/400, start snmp service by;
    STRTCPSVR SERVER(*SNMP)

    below lines are output picked up that may be interesting.

    HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrSystemProcesses.0 = Gauge32: 3279

    HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrStorageType.1 = OID: HOST-RESOURCES-TYPES::hrStorageFixedDisk
    HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrStorageDescr.1 = STRING: System ASP
    HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrStorageAllocationUnits.1 = INTEGER: 4096 Bytes
    HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrStorageSize.1 = INTEGER: 359890944
    HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrStorageUsed.1 = INTEGER: 343925670

    HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrProcessorLoad.1 = INTEGER: 37
    HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrProcessorLoad.2 = INTEGER: 61
    HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrProcessorLoad.3 = INTEGER: 64
    HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrProcessorLoad.4 = INTEGER: 81
    HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrProcessorLoad.5 = INTEGER: 83
    HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrProcessorLoad.6 = INTEGER: 0

    Other AS/400 specific mibs objects are shown in numeric output;
    SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.2.6.2.13...
    Mibs file like as400.mibs or other might help.

    My MRTG pages are collecting our AS/400's snmp values, but not yet in zabbix.

      hello,

      thanks for your reply, but are there no papers with the exact definitions and mib codes of what is interesting to monitor on AS400 ?
      I can believe that other people also need this.

      thnx
      Philippe.
