How to clear the queue

Currently running 1.1.6

A number of hosts that were working correctly for months all of a sudden stopped collecting new information. Looking at the queue I see the items present with the next check date several days in the past.

Is there any way to clear the queue? Shouldn't there be a process that updates the dates to some time in the future??

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

We have the same Problem with 1.4.4.
Every few days there are Items stuck in the Queue (SNMP as well as Agent Items).
After we restart the zabbix_server all Items are collected again. Is there a way to tell the Zabbix Server to reschedule Items that should have been checked a few Minutes ago?
