Newbie questions!

I have two newbie questions hopefully someone answer for me.

Lets say I have three items for 'server1', we'll call them check port 80 on 'server2' (net.tcp.port[iptoserver2,80])

Now does the ZABBIX server check for that port, or does it make server1 check server2?

Also, that TCP ping to server... is that the zabbix server pinging the agent or vice versa?

The reason I ask is because I had about 10-15 minutes downtime on saturday and haven't seen any drop of availability on those three items for checking port 80. They maintained '1' status since I configured them on thursday. I'm not sure why they kept that status while the machine was off.

EDIT: Also, I just noticed Host Status is all screwned up. I've had it installed since Nov 21st and it one server was restarted on the 24th
