Error - "Another zabbix_agentd" already running ?"

Hello all! Debian Etch r0, Zabbix 1.4.1
After restarting daemon: /etc/init.d/zabbix-agent restart , agent not starting and in log appears:
23469:20071204:201817 zabbix_agentd started. ZABBIX 1.4.1.
23469:20071204:201817 Listener failed with error: Cannot bind to port 10050 for server [ANY]. Error [Address already in use]. Another zabbix_agentd already running ?

I dont't know how to solve it.. Thanks for help!

i had that problems, too.

Try using a newer initscript.


Background:
with older initscripts, when stopping the agentd, some connections remain in status "time wait" (you should see them with "netstat -ap|grep zabbix" ). They disappear after about 5-15 sec.
As long as these conns are still there, you can't start the agentd.

So
1. stop the deamon,
2. wait until all conns are gone and then
3. start again,

or use a newer initscript!
