Windows - logged in Users on Terminal Server

    hi !

Does anyone got an idea on how to get the usernames from logged on users on a Terminal Server ?

At the moment I am only monitoring the TOTAL number of RDP Sessions - but what i need to be informed of, is if certain users are logged on to the system.

    any hints ?

    Some thaughts..

Hmm. I was interested in doing something similar to this, except I was interested in how many current users logged into a Active Directory Domain.

There are two things I was thinking about but never implemented.

Here were my two ideas that I never did but in theory should be possible..

    Theoretically...

    1) You could devise a program to parse the Authentication event log and keep track of logon/logoff events when applied to a user then feed that data to the zabbix agent. then to the zabbix server.

    2) This one is a Kludge(tm)- but should work. You could put a function in your domain logon script that updates a log file that the zabbix agent reads.

In either way, I'd be unsure as to tell when a person logged off.

Anyhow.. Like I said- I havn't tried those methods so take witha grain of salt.

      terminal server commands

      Hi,
You can do this one of two ways.

Write a vbs-wmi script to parse through the TS WMI or

create a basic script to parse the output of either the

query username or query session commands

you can find more info on them below.

      Hope this helps,
      Rolandsym
