Email Notifications Not Triggered

I've set up an email notification for a "Disaster" situation (A test server is unreachable), and set myself up to be emailed only for Disaster triggers.

The server has been unplugged for an hour now, and I have not received an email. Worse yet, Zabbix shows in the Notifications tab under Administration that no notifications were even attempted.

Any ideas?

if its showing an alert with a "not sent" status that probably means that the alerter thread has died. if you bounce the server it'll probably send out all of the queued alerts. if you don't want to send out the alerts, then you should set the status of all the alerts in the alert table in the database (i think i've got that right, you should double-check i'm thinking of the correct table) to zero and then bounce the server.

i have no idea why the alerter thread is dying...
