    Upgrade 1.4 to 1.4.4 on Ubuntu 7.04

Does anyone have suggestions for "easily" upgrading Zabbix from 1.4 to 1.4.4 on Ubuntu 7.04? Any information would be greatly appreciated!

      Comon guys!

Ubuntu is suppose to be the easiest of all!

Okay. all you have to do to upgrade from 1.4 to 1.4.4 is replace the zabbix_server binary.

You could do this by installing a new version of zabbix

Or compiling it yourself and replacing the binary.

Considering all the people with ubuntu, i have no idea why they don't have the latest version. Youll have to use the debian packages linked above instead.

Would you do this by literally overwriting the binary or apt-get it from a debian source?

By the way... thanks for the reply! :-)

For whatever it is worth, I simply downloaded the 1.4.4 source and compiled it on my Ubuntu box (ie., ran ./configure and make install). I then logged into the zabbix mysql database and ran the patch.sql script, though I am thinking I probably did not have to do b/c I was already on 1.4.0. I then fired up zabbix_server and all is good!

Build new binaries and update the PHP front-end. That's it. No database patching is required.

I didn't update the PHP front-end... I assumed that was done during the 'make install' portion. Did I miss it?

Yes, you did! You should overwrite existing PHP file by new ones. Do not touch directory conf/, which contains you current configuration.

ZABBIX Server and the front-end are pretty independent within one major release, you may use server v1.4.4 with v1.4 front-end and v.s.

Hmmm... I just updated the php files, leaving the conf directory intact, and am now getting this error after trying to log into the web interface:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function DBin_node() in /var/www/zabbix/index.php on line 65

Do recursive copy to update files in include/, etc.

                          1.4.4 packages for Ubuntu

Hello. Just wanted to let everyone know that I built Zabbix 1.4.4 packages for Ubuntu 7.10. The source packages are available and I'd bet they'd build fine on Ubuntu 7.04.

I announced the packages in this thread:
