    Change of TRIGGER.STATUS values

Is there a configuration way of changing the TRIGGER.STATUS messages from ON/OFF to something a lay person can understand (heck, TRUE/FALSE would even help)

People I set up monitoring for keep getting confused (it does not take much)

I do realize I can just go into the source code and change it, but I was wondering if there is a way to do it via config somehow.

    Thanks

I too have had complaints. Especially when it is something like monitoring if a system is running or not. People would get a email saying
    {HOSTNAME} : {TRIGGER}: ON
and think "oh good. that SYSTEM should be on." and go on their way when they should think "Oh no, that ALERT is on! Therefore the system is OFF".

Most of the people that get these alerts think the proper way in relation to the alerts, however, there are a few people that just can't grasp it. So I custom defined special actions for them. One for when the trigger goes on "{HOSTNAME} is down!" and one for when the trigger goes off "{HOSTNAME} is back online". Its all about writing a good action/email.

I believe it depends on how people think. If they think in terms of the alerts/triggers then the current method works well. If they think in terms of the actual status of the host, then its backwards.

It would be nice to have a switch to customize it or as you suggested TRUE / FALSE. That way I would not have to make 2 instances of the action (one for on and one for off) but its possible you would still run into these issues with True/False. Maybe someone more clever then myself has a better answer.

      Hi

As I see there are more persons which complaints had on the subject of announcements delivered to various persons.

The question to developers who writing zabbixa, if there is the possibility to put the suitable dependent announcement from statusu placing the action
E.g.: if status triggers ON send this send message such and such in the case OFF send message such and such.

{ TRIGGER.NAME }: { STATUS } if ON this marks like e.g.: apache2 does not work in the case OFF the service works correctly

      Albert

      P.S sorry for my english

I like the idea of the separate ON/OFF messages but the problem comes from abstractions of alerts from triggers. The custom ON/OFF messages should be defined in the trigger not in alert, as different triggers would carry different meaning of true or false, but may be covered by same alert definition.
