    cannot execute binary file

Hello all. First let me start by saying what a nice program Zabbix is. Developers should be very proud of the work you have done!!

I installed Zabbix under Centos 5 and had no trouble compiling or running it. Then I added an agent to a Windows server and no issues either. Then, I tried with another Linux server (Centos 4.7) and no matter what I get "cannot execute binary file". The file has chmod 777, and I have tried by making zabbix as a user owning it or root with the same results.

The Zabbix user can read the .conf file located under /etc/zabbix without any issues so really I am lost.

    Any ideas anyone?

    Again, congratulations on Zabbix!!

Ok, if this happens to someone else I did a few assumptions and got in trouble doing so. First I compiled and installed Zabbix under Centos 5. That was fine and had no issues at all. Then, I copied and zabbix_agentd created from Centos 5 (my Zabbix server) to another local linux Centos 4.6 server and had the issue so I guess no backward compatibility (what whas I thinking? LOL ). Then I copied the source files from my Centos 5 to the 4.6 server and tried with several versions of make clean, ./configure bla bla, etc, etc and got IKSEMEL errors.

So, I downloaded the source from the Zabbix.com site and this time it work. I guess the previous cmpilation left the information on the existing libraries so starting from scratch in the 4.6 server solved the issue.

I am nor happy monitoring remote Windows servers, local windows and linux server ( my zabbix server runs inside vmware esx) and the esx server itself is being monitored.

I will publish the changes I did on ESX to be monitored later on as there are some tricks to it.

    Regards,

    Paul

Thank you for posting the resolution! Too often someone posts a question, resolves the issue themselves, but never follows up... which leaves subsequent people experiencing the same issue without help.
