    Dependency Question

    When setting up dependencies;

    If I have Devices A-B-C-D:

    B is dependent on A, C is dependent on B, ...

Do I have to set D to be dependent on A,B & C, or just C, and zabbix "knows" that C is dependent on B, so on and so forth...

I did read the doc, but missed it the first time.

    It does "stack" the dependencies...

in other words, if a host is dependent on a and b then, you only have to set host dependency on b, and tell b dependency on a ...

      "Stack in the configuration"

      Hi,

      I had the same question.

In some test I have seen that the "stack" (transitive) is created in configuration time. for example.

      A B C and D: A depend of B and B depend of C.
If you configure before B-C and after A-B ---> A depend of C
Else A not depend of C and you must specify A depend of B and C....

Anyway I am not sure to the 100%..
So.. I hope in the 1.6...

        Hmm, good point actually.
The documentation states there is no support for host dependency, and that you can do this using triggers.
But, if you are using templated triggers for host up/down switch up/down how would you do this? I mean i'm not going to create a seperate host template per switch

        Or am i missing something?

Simply, you can set the dependency between "trigger Host down" and the "trigger switch down"
attention, if you do this on the template each Host depend of each switch...
example switch1 and switch2 (different net)
Host1 is linked switch1 host2 is linked switch2, if you create the dependency between switch_template and host_template triggers; host1_triggers depend of switch1_triggers and switch2_triggers..
But is wrong because host1_triggers not depend of switch2_triggers... and so
