What happens when zabbix server is off/down?

    Hello.

I am planning to setup Zabbix to monitor 79 servers with the following scenario:

50 servers located in 2 data centres in the UK
19 servers located in 2 data centres in Greece

I would like to have Zabbix server on a different network than the above in order to be able to diagnose easily when there is an issue with network too.

Assume that the Zabbix server is in my office which has a 24Mbit ADSL line with 1Mbit Upload. Hardware specs is not a problem as there is available a very fast machine.
The question is what will happen if ADSL is down for 1-2 hours for example or when I will doing maintenance to the server.

Would just be informed after the ADSL will be up?
Any thoughts on this scenario would be appreciated.

    Thanks a lot

Hmm i am not sure, i think it will show all the hosts as unreachable.

So you can set up an action on this trigger to mail/sms/jabber you when a host is unreachable (or multiple)

ps. hope i got your question right

i built up a trigger "server xyz is unreachable for > 2 Minutes". This trigger would become active for every host in your case.
But you can create a dependency for it. Means: You create a trigger to check weather your connection (and your zabbix server) is up. A ping to google for example. Then you can make the others dependent to this. So when you conn (or the Server) is down, only the ping-trigger becomes active, not all the others.
      Big ZABBIX is watching you!
(... and my 48 hosts, 4513 items, 1280 triggers via zabbix v1.6 on CentOS 5.0)

        Thanks just2blue4u,

Can you please elaborate a little bit more how to achieve the scenario with dependencies. If you can point me to the right place in the documentation will be fine.

        Thanks

I monitor 3 server centers in different parts of Europe with one server in one of the server centers, so determining if a host is down due to network problems, or problems on the actual host would be very nice to have.
Could you give me some more information on how to create a trigger (i.e. send SMS/e-mail) when a host has been down for 3 minutes. I'd also like information on how to make a trigger dependent on other hosts/triggers.
