Simple/external checks

Hi,

can anybody tell me why simple checks doesn't work in absence of agent running on monitored host? When the agent is running, simple checks work fine, but when I kill agent (on monitored host) server stops to execute simple checks. In the case when I set the monitored host as 'standalone' simple checks works fine also.
So, is there any possibility that server continues to run simple checks in the case when agent (on monitored host) fails.


Also, server stops to execute external checks when his (server's) agent is down. Is server in ability to run them without his agent?

I'm also interested in solution of this problem. In some cases agent might crash and I would still like to keep all remote checks functionalities. Also, sometimes administrator might decide to switch off agent temporarily but still keep all triggers and actions associated with remote checks.

I just checked the latest nightly build of Zabbix 1.5 and the behavior is the same.
