Check creation of file with date in name or most recent file in given folder

I have an XP device on which I have active checks running quite happily.

This machine manages a number of CCTV cameras and produces .avi files with the name format as follows: yyyymmddhhmmss.avi

I need to keep an eye on these files and ensure that they are being saved ok. How can I either:
    a. monitor for the creation of a new file within the last 4 hours for example or
    b. check that files have been saved with todays date in the name

or any other method that would show that changes have occured in the given folder with new files created.

A number of people seem to have had similar queries with regards to logfiles but I don't seem to be able to see any examples of items etc to define.

many thanks for any help you might offer.

You need to create a user-defined monitored parameter:
    • Write a script that resides on the XP machine, and returns 0 if all is OK, and 1 if there is an issue. You can test this by hand.
    • Add an entry to your "zabbix_agent.conf" file on the XP machine that references the script, and restart your Zabbix agent.
    • Create an item and a trigger on the Zabbix server.

Details should be in the Zabbix manual.

      Many thanks

I'll give this a try and see what I can come up with.
