Triggers mass update

As in subject, how can i mass update triggers? I would to make every trigger dependent on an item.

The only thing that come in my mind is to insert dependency directly in the db. I hope there is a more reliable way.

Mass update of triggers would be quite tricky. Editing them from the DB is equally "tricky"

Mass update what exactly? Severity? Trigger expression? I would like to see some real life examples when it can be handy.

This is a bit out of scope for the question itself, but about trigger dependency:
Can you look at trigger dependency in import/export. These are currently (1.5.3 is missing this also afaik) not honored when exporting/importing templates or hosts.
