service dependency question

(hopefully) just a quick question guys,

is, for example, the trigger for "SSH down on host A" going to go off if "host A us unavailable" also goes off?

I know I can set "SSH Down on host A" dependent on "agent.ping for host A", but I wondered if all checks on a host were inherently dependent on the host being available?

I have the same problem.

Must I really set a dependency to "agent.ping" for every trigger on the same host?
Everytime a host goes down, I've been bombed with mails that services are also down.
