    File Integrity Monitoring (Windows)

I am looking to monitor key files on a server running Server 2003 and IIS6. I have the agent installed and communcation for other monitoring is functioning properly. However, when viewing the Item I get the error:

"Type of received value [99e5ddfefd7365a5d754066febd94826] is not sutable for [vfs.file.md5sum[C:\test.aspx]@computername] having"

The status is showing "Active", so it appears the checksum is running but the result is unusable by Zabbix.

A couple of things on this.

    1) It seems that for some reason (I don't have a clue why) people (eg: others on forum as well as the developers) prefer to use vfs.file.cksum for checking the integrity of a file. Good or bad, I don't know. I couldn't find much information except this in the manual:
"MD5 hash of the file. Can be used only for files less than 64MB, unsupported otherwise."

So my /guess/ is that cksum supports files over 64MB and that is why it is used. That is just very much a wild guess on my part. Maybe I should research the topic more.... *adds that to growing list of things to learn about*

Nevertheless, it is used considerbly more often. Have you considered using this?

    2) When I configured a md5sum item, it appeared to work well when I set the item type to character. My guess is that you have it on numeric or float. Try changing it, then retest so that you can verify that the trigger works.

    Have fun!
