    1.4 icmpping uses hosts.host, not hosts.dns

Zabbix 1.4 cannot properly icmpping hosts by DNS name, because it uses the hosts.name column instead of the (presumably correct) hosts.dns column.

It works (accidentally) when the "hosts.name" column is set to the machine's hostname, relative path under domain, or FQDN but it doesn't work beyond that. The sample data included with the server tends to indicate it's intended to be used as a free-form display name.

Patch attached (may or may not fix icmppingsec, which I don't use and didn't test).

Patch works fine, but Update Intervall seems not to be used

      Hi,

I ´m using the patch, it works fine. I yesterday noticed this problem too.

It seems, that the updated intervall is not used really.
I doubt that that has to do with the patch, it can be in general.

The update intervall is set to 30, but in reallity it is doing it in 60 seconds.

Do you mean PingerFrequency? Note that refresh rate for icmpping and icmppinsec is ignored. The PingerFrequency defines how frequently the items have to be updated.

            PingerFrequence

            Hi Alexei,

it seems, that this has changed in some of the last versions.
After reading the manual I found that this can
not be set by item, but by server only.
That is not a problem really.

            Regards
            Gerald
