Possible areas for contribution?

Hi, I've been using Zabbix for a little more than a month now and I'm very impressed. I'm looking for a good platform to start contributing to open source and I think Zabbix would be a good place to begin. Is there any part in the Zabbix alerting system (preferably the SMS sending system) that I can give a shot? I think it would be nice if Zabbix had a feature with which you can set the baud rate to use when communicating with a GSM modem. I myself have had problems with this and I got it working ultimately by making Zabbix expect [ERROR] instead of [OK] :P.

And hats off to the developers for this awesome network monitoring solution!

First off, I am not a developer so take my comment as need be.

The Zabbix team has a pretty tight coding group. This allows them to work more smoothly and to cordinate things better. If you really want to be an active developer talk to Alexei directly.

If you are just looking to contribute and help out, then please by all means do so. Create new features, improve upon features, find/fix bugs, and then report them back to the group: http://www.zabbix.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=9
