    zabbix 1.6 code vs. zabbix 1.4 docs

    Let's just say I've managed to get 1.6 running in spite of the 1.4 docs being the most current available. So, what's the problem?

    I get through the whole compile, install, configure, etc., but when I finally get to the login screen, the "Admin" password is *NOT* blank!

    Please, please, please tell me the magic to do to the zabbix database to set the Admin password to something useful!

    I think the devs forgot to update the documentation page on the website.
    The 1.6 documentation is linked in the news item about the 1.6 release on the main website.

        Whenever you are not logged in, your userid is automagically set to guest, so you cant use that to log in (meta account thingy).
        If i recall correctly, the admin login is admin/admin.

        if that fails, user passwords are probably stored as md5 hashes. So make create an md5 hash of your desired password and update the admin record in the database accordingly.

          I'm having the same issue. Compile is done and I am at the login scrreen but the "Admin" account (no password) is being rejected.

          I also tried admin/admin without success.

          Ahh. I just saw it in another post...

          Use this -
          Admin
          zabbix

            Hi,
            $ mysql -h host -p zabbix
            mysql> UPDATE users SET passwd=md5('password') WHERE name='Admin';

            where
            host = mysql server host
            password = new password

            enjoy

            Regards

              Hi,
              Before you put "red face" emoticon on your post, better you dig more deeper. It quoted from ZABBIX 1.6 release note:
              :: What's important

              * Empty passwords are no longer supported and replaced by password "zabbix"
              * User permissions schema differs from 1.4 for Admins and Super Admins

                Yeah, they forgot to do that, but there's a link to the 1.6 documentation from the download page: http://www.zabbix.com/download.php - The icon next to the "Download" link

                  The link to ZABBIX Manual is fixed.
