Macro {item.id}

Hi everybody,

In next version I would be happy to have a macro ITEM.ID into triggers or alerts ?
I want to build a URL wich point to item's history.

Example into a trigger configuration:

Trigger url: http://myzabbixserver.com/history.php?action=showgraph&itemid={ITEM.ID}

SLA - service time template

Hi,

I would be happy to have a service time "Template" for SLA.
Actually if a SLA as 20 triggers, I have to insert 20 times the "service time". The biggest problem is not the time it takes, but errors.

Suggestion, when entering the service time for a SLA, a drop-down field with predefined SLA. (ex: Messaging Mon-Sat 7:00 to 23:00, Web Mon-Sun 0:00 to 23:59).

Size of Link on maps

On maps we can set links between to hosts.

My dream:
- attribute an item to a link
- the size or the color of the link is defined by the value of the item.

Have a look at weathermap.

you can add multiple triggers to a link and define what colour and line properties each trigger should impose if active.

Many file systems

Hi, we use many file systems in a database environment. We create one file system for each new database. If possible add more intelligence for the zabbix agent, to detect the new file systems and add those on the zabbix server?.

Additions on the overview page

I would love to see some kind of filtering for the Overview page. I am currently monitoring different sites and thus have grouped all devices on each site to a specific group. However, everything gets very cluttery when all information about switches, servers, printers, APs etc are thrown together on the same page.

Please make some kind of filter so that I can view servers, switches etc separately on the overview page, but only those hosts that are in the specified group. Perhaps this could be done by allowing me to filter by templates used.

Also, could you please add so that in the overview page, You can click on an item (ex. CPU) and get all the hosts sorted in ascending or descending order.

For me the most wanted addin in zabbix 1.8 (1.7beta) is automatic discover of filesystems list ( /, /usr, /opt, c:\, etc ..)

Something else very useful is support of {item.value} macro in action to send email.

No i use {ITEM.VALUE} in trigger name to display
for example FS usage but when zabbix action send mail on trigger
the {ITEM.VALUE} is not evaluate ...

First of all, I would like to express how much Zabbix helped in our infrastructure. Thank you guys for this.
Ill list what I miss in the actual version of zabbix:

- a way to use periods in triggers, i.e. a triggers that compares the last hour average value with the same average value from one week ago... or one month ago, or anything like this.

-possibility to create screens with various graphs from the same host, item, but in different time slices, i.e. a screen that would show the band usage in every day of the week.

These two features are very helpfull for systems that faces difference in behavior according to the day or even period of day.

actually, this exact issue was raised by spike morelli in netways opensource monitoring conference (http://www.netways.de/en/osmc/y2009/uebersicht/) today.
he went further and suggested graphing such things, to which i replied that zabbix can't easily do that... when it actually dawned on me just now that current trunk can do that. the bar graphs allow you create report called "distribution of values for multiple items".

edit: see the attachment for an example of charting first days of 4 months

so the only thing that is missing - some way to reference back-in-time value in triggers. but that's not a trivial issue - it should be both user friendly and technically feasible (think of all the different time periods in past people will want to use, how to handle periods where trend data only is available...).

could you please report the trigger thing in the feature request tracker ? thanks.

this is possible... in a hackish way. open graphs in time periods you want to use, copy those urls. then use these urls in the screen.
not very elegant, but possible.

Thanks for the fast reply on this.
I actually use a trigger that does this compare, unfortunelly it loads the system like hell.

What I do is:
((({gateway:activeCalls.sum(#5070)}-{gateway:activeCalls.sum(#5040)})/30)>(1.4*{gateway:activeCalls.avg(#30)}))

Once my item reloads every 120 secs, I calculated the number of ticks back one week and one hour ago, then i calculate the sum of one week and subtract one from other (Ill have the hour sum from one week ago...)
Then calculate the average and compare using a threshhold (1,4) with my actual hour average.

It works, but unfortunelly it loads the system too much...

oh, well, you are actually getting more than 5 thousand values - twice.
i would be impressed if it would not increase the load
so in general i agree, getting some syntax to refer to past periods in triggers would be useful (but please report this on the feature tracker with as many detail as possible)
