    snmpbulkget

Alexi, i am currently monitoring about 1000 servers, 300 cisco devices, and about 200 printers, i would like to know if you can add in the setup fr an anmp host that zabbix should do a snmpbulkget and store all the avaliable oids as snm vriables that should be monitored. it would be easy to then fo through and remove the ones that are not required.

the reason for this, most hosts have certain snmp variables in common, but they all have something that the other ones do not have, and for me to have to do an snmpbulkget via commandline and then add the things one by one to each host takes a really long time.....

    thanx

Will hard-linked templates (to be introduced in v1.1) be handy in your situation? You change one template-host, and the changes will automatically be propagated to corresponding linked real hosts.

By the way, just wondering, how many active items and triggers you have?

      about 1000 server * 15 items on each server = 15000
      300 cisco * about 20 items on each = 5000
      200 printers * about 5 items each = 1000

      total about 20000 - 22000

I don't know yet. I've been thinking a couple of days about possible approach for import/export, no good solution yet. I think that I'll go XML way by providing a small utility (or a WEB form) which would perform required operations.

This would enable ZABBIX users to exchange templates for hosts/apps/devices easily. I could even create a repository of templates on http://www.zabbix.com.

Excellent idea: similar to Microsoft MoM's 'management packs'. easing exchange of these 'monitoring kits'/template/'management packs' between users of zabbix is definitively a really good thing !

Very nice idea to use xml

It is very good idea, maybe it would be nice to export data from graphs and latest data too. Would be great.
