zabbix 1.6.1 agent on aix 5.3?

I observe that all 4 CPU stats (user, idle, sys, nice) are all reported as 0. Of course, Murphy's Law guarantees this, as it is the only information I really want for that machine. Sigh.

However, I don't much care about that if somebody can tell me either where in the AIX 5.3 SNMP agent I can get similar data. Just eyeballing the output of snmpwalk didn't point out anything obvious....

In addition, from the "Latest Data" page, "Host Status" claims not to have a value, even though every other Item is being populated. Any ideas on that?

I don't think any CPU monitors are supported by the current agent on AIX, but you should be able to write a little UserParameter script to get the data from topasout/xmwlm.

I think the "status" item won't actually get a value until it changes. You can try stopping the agent briefly to see if the status goes to 2, and when you start the agent it should become 0.

hoyt wrote a nice patch for the 1.4 series of agents, which I'm currently using in my AIX 5.3 systems to get CPU load averages. It is found at http://www.zabbix.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8962

I'm also looking for the information from a 1.6 agent, as I've got a need for data caching, which I believe works in the 1.6 agents.

Tighelp, thanks for that pointer! Will be trying that patch against the 1.6.1 source once I unbury myself from a few other projects....

In another recent thread Alexei also said that they were going to be improving the AIX agent support sometime soon.

I saw that message about AIX agent improvement, but it's hard to tell management "soon". I attempted the patch into the 1.6.1 agent code, and it doesn't seem to work. I'll have to dedicate more time to figure out why the patch doesn't work, and that just isn't going to happen these next 3 weeks.
