I would like to see this added as functionality for the log[] item. So when I use Type Integer64 it should give back the results a regex is found in logfile. I think this could be useful for getting stats from external devices which uses remote syslog facility to store stats/logs and which you cant monitor with snmp. Also other stats e.g. apache/ssh/samba login requests can be monitored. Only issue I see how too handle counters on logfile rotation...
