I created a plugin for show current issues on zabbix in a tool bar for firefox.
This plugin works with 1.6+ (using data from dashboard) and 1.4 (using tr_status.php).

why this plugin? notifications are great, but email could be slow and sms have a cost.
when alerts are checked by several persons, is not easy to know when a issue is acknowledged, with this plugin you are ever seeing in real-time what is happening with your issues without needed to have your zabbix url opened.

With 1.6 version you can see actions in same window.

Things you can do with this plugin:
- Show in every moment issues on your zabbix platform, add acknowledge, see last change, see Age, see Actions (only 1.6) and doing click in different options a tab is opened with specific option.
- Toolbar is simple hidden/showed doing click on below icon
- Toolbar is resizable
- Issues on 1.6 version are updated each 60 seconds and on 1.4 are updated using url configuration.
- Source is included to adapt your necessity

note: only works with firefox 3.0, soon thunderbird version is avaliable

I'm using frontend 1.6 build 6760. I get "ERROR: Invalid URL"

...though I would only like to see unacknowledged events.

i'm using "ZABBIX 1.6.2 Copyright 2001-2008 by SIA Zabbix" with firefox 3.0.4 and works ok

could give me more details?
maybe i can put a new option in add-on options like "only show unacknowledged", what do you think?

are you using http://zabbix.host/ or http://host/zabbix ?

I created a plugin for show current issues on zabbix

I really like this. A couple of ideas:

- Make as much use of the little icon as possible, eg show a count next to it for # of alerts, with user option to select what to show [unacked only, >average only, new in last 10 minutes only, etc]

- A bubble that pops up when a new alert happens

- Support for more than one Zabbix server

- Use Zabbix API? If one exists, then hopefully you could use it to do frequent updates while causing less load on the server than using ordinary HTTP. This means many people could use the plugin with causing undue load on the server.

- change color of icon to reflect alert status?
