We are heavily dependent on the use of graphs and screens where I work. Being the Zabbix Admin, I create the screens layout and add in the graphs, while other team members do the data analysis.
The problem surrounding the use of the screens is that they have very little flexibility if you need to modify the layout after they have been created and populated. You are limited to only being able to add rows at the bottom of the screen.
I try to logically group the graphs on a screen. One typical DB screen may contain upwards of 40 graphs. They are laid out in a grouping similar to this -
| CPU count | CPU usage | CPU load |
___________________________________
|Memory | Pagefile | Swap space |
___________________________________
| Disk space | Disk space | Disk Queue |
You get the idea. So if one of our analysts requests a metric that fits into one of the groupings at the top of the screen, there is no way to put it there. It can only be added at the bottom and that just breaks the flow and rhythm of the data presentation.
I think what would be an ideal feature here is the way Excel allows you to add a cell to a row or column and allows you to shift cells left or right when inserting.
Outside of that, it would at least be nice to be able to insert an entire row or column anywhere within the graph.
Of course, drag and drop would be awesome...
