A little more information would be appreciated first. :-)

How do you want the alert sounds to occur? Are you wanting the web frontend to cause the sounds to happen, or do you want them to come from a pre-determined set of speakers?

If you're wanting to change the sound which is made on the server when a trigger goes from OK to Problem or back then you just need to look for the sound in the frontend server directory and change it.

If you're wanting a specific sound based on event and so forth, now you'll need to create an action tied to an external script. First you will need to determine what the command is to play a sound from the command line. Next you need to see if the Zabbix user can execute this command, otherwise you'll seed to either set the setuid bit or configure sudo to execute that command by zabbix without a password. It may also be a simple matter of adding Zabbix to the audio group. Then you tie the script to an action and wala! You might also want to be sure you have speakers attached to the server playing the audio, but hopefully you would have that fixed in your initial testing. ;-)

        What did you try?

Without knowing how your environment is setup we can't give you good step by step instructions. Rather if you can tell us what you tried, and so forth then we can help you better.

          Config sound on Zabbix

          Dear admin
I setup Zabbix on Centos 5.3 . I done the following things to setup sound:
+ Copy "audio" folder to /usr/local/zabbix
+ Edit trigger " server is unreachable" on host and index to /usr/local/zabbix/audio
+ Create an action for this trigger ( use send mail to a group)
Please send to me a file to config sound on Zabbix. I hope you will send a specific file which have configuration's photos, step by step, command line..to config sound. That's really very improtant to me.
          Thanks and best regard

That won't work. Just placing a file somewhere does nothing, unless you act on it or include it.

I come back to my question. How do you envision this to work? Do you want to have one computer in the room with a set of speakers which causes an alert sound for the whole room? Or are you wanting to have an alert sound on everyone's computer should an alert happen?

With all due respect, it is doubtful anyone will send you a file to fix it, please stop asking/demanding. Many of us in the forums will however very gladly work with you to help you fix the problem.

So how do I get this to work?

I know this question is from 2 years ago but I don't find any resolution in this forum post...

So if I have 1 computer with speakers - and I want to configure audible alarms on triggers - how do I do that on zabbix?

Please let me know. I am very new to zabbix.

              Thanks!

It's a bit tricky, not 100% perfect but it can be done. I've done it on a windows xp machine, it doesn't work on windows 7 though
You need to install zabbix agent on the machine and enable remote commands
configure the triggers in action conditions which is pretty obvious, configure the action to run remote command in action operation
                i.e.
                MACHINENAME-GIVEN-IN-ZABBIX:c:\sound.bat
the sound.bat file should contain command line option for playing a sound through any application like windows media player or vlc
                i.e.
                wmplayer.exe c:\audio\alarm.mp3
