[ZBX-1.8] Agent compatible to 1.6 server ?

Thanks for providing version 1.8 !

We all know, that in order to use a 1.6 agent you'll need to run
a 1.6 server. The main (or only ?) reason is the modified protocol (mutliple
values in one connection).

Just a questions out of curiousity:

Is the zabbix_agent version 1.8 compatible with a 1.6 server ?

i don't recall any changes to the protocol, so it might.
that's just a semi-educated guess, though, you're still on your own if you do that

Has anyone tried using 1.8 agents with a 1.6 server? I'm going to do a round of configuration updates to the agents and was thinking of updating the agent to 1.8 at the same time.

We were thinking about upgrading some of our agents as well. Has anyone tried this?
