I'm running the 1.1 beta to monitor a number of servers but I was especially interested to see the new section under "host profile" and "configuration management" whereby you can enter a mac address, hardware, software, contact etc.
I was wondering a few things:
1) In general, how likely is this individual area of zabbix to be expanded / developed and in what kind of rough timeframe do you think perhaps? (e.g. no real interest in this area or 6 months, 3 months, next patch etc)
2) Although it's great to enter things manually the data will go out of date quite fast in our organisation, are there any plans to be able to have the zabbix agent be able to fill in some of the fields such as the mac address, operating system and possibly some hardware fields?
3) Are there immediate plans to make this data searchable with a search page? Although I only use zabbix for monitoring servers at the moment, It would interesting to be able to pull up all hosts with a cpu below a certain speed or all hosts older than 4 years from purchase.
Rather than me just beg for features, if there's no immediate plans for a search page (e.g. you're busy with other areas of zabbix right now) I was wondering what your formal or informal policy is on people submitting patches to you and if there's any advance advice for submitted work (e.g. "please don't try and change area X as it might break too many things, but area Y could change if it needs to and area Z is very open to suggestions").
