    task oriented documentation

    Zabbix was very easy to install from source. But then once it was installed, I did not know what to do with it. There is a lot of unconnected detail in the manual, but there is no overview. The labels on the buttons and tabs in the GUI are not self-explanatory. Please give us a straight forward example of setting up monitoring. We do not need an exhaustive list of all the operators you can use in a trigger expression until after we know what a trigger expression does and where to type it in.

    Try to imagine what it is like if you never heard of Zabbix before and don't know its structure at all, and the boss wants to know when it will be all set up. That's the manual we need before the complete syntax reference can do us any good. Tutorial, please.

    Actually I believe the current Manual had nice improvements...

    You can search for some Zabbix videos even on Y*utube.

    Think of Zabbix setup flow in the following order,

    Host -> Items -> Triggers -> Actions
    You configure an Host with some Items that are fed some metrics(Zabbix Templates come with a lot of predefined ones for Unix, Windows Server,...)
    You setup the Triggers with a Threshold or some Item(s) conditions, so when it's reached, the Trigger Status changes.
    You create an Action to notify(or call a script) an user or Group of users by the Media Type you choose(email, sms, jabber,...)
