    SNMP inherited community name

    I think it's cool that we can specify the SNMP community name on a per item basis but making changes to this information is ineffecient for most users.

    What i propose is that there be a field where you can set perhaps in the Administration section where by you can set a default SNMP community name.

    If one exists for a particular item, it should use that. If not, it should use the default SNMP community name.

    There really should be multiple times where you can change this ie:
    globally(default)
    per host group (effects all hosts in group. Overrides default setting)
    per host (effects all items for a host. Overrides group and default settings)
    per item (effects just that item on a host/template. Overrides host, group and default settings)

    There is a new feature in Zabbix 1.8 that does almost what you are looking for. Check "Global and host level macros" part at the end of this page:
