Any thought about being able to use the Google Maps service as a background for maps?

This is assuming you have the co-ords for the hosts, which I do.

map backgrounds have been discussed quite a lot on the past, but so far nobody has been interested enough in that.

in any case, google maps might not be the best provider - there are limits on commercial usage, and you can't host them internally, which might be a requirement for large companies.

http://www.openstreetmap.org/ project might be a much better choice, given how you can do pretty much everything a background for your environment monitoring would require
