Template overriding

Hello,

We use zabbix 1.8.3, and are very happy with it.

The templates have given us a great efficiency to manage our servers, but there's one small improvement we would welcome :

It seems that you cannot link a server to 2 templates thathave the same item, so if you would lik to tune the triggers to a group of hosts, you have to do it on each server.

Our situation :
- one linux template : used for approx. 75 servers
- one linux_cluster template : used for ~ 15 servers
We use the url field to link to a procedure written in our wiki, but the procedure is different for the cluster nodes.

So it would be great if you could make some inheritance and overriding in templates. But maybe I have missed something ?

that's one possibility, although it does not give you ability to customise triggers per hostgroup that much. for that look at user macro functionality - it would allow to set different thresholds for different servers etc
