I have created a patchset (https://support.zabbix.com/browse/ZBX-3186) for adding IPMI connection hack support, because of an older version of an Apple Xserve product being in use.
As detailed in the OpenIPMI source code, currently there are three workarounds supported by this implementation, which can be activated for each host.
I don't know how common these "broken" IPMI devices are (the newer Xserve hardware we use correctly implements IPMI 2.0), so I would like, as suggested in the enhancement request, to ask for feedback about such an edition to the Zabbix IPMI poller.
