Request for feedback (and help) implementing authentication for zabbix agents

Well, we're actually in final stages, all we need is testing. I just hired a tester because the amazing feedback from this thread (ahem..) isn't really enough. After we finish it (currently aimed for April 30th) there's still the challenge of getting it into trunk, which is probably a whole new can of worms. We'll see, just don't despair

patch issue

When I'm applying to the downloaded src I am getting an error with
create/src/schema.tmpl since there is no directory of create in the source code tree, I have checked svn and it is there but I am unfamiliar with svn.

The patch updates everything else except the schema.tmpl file.. I assume that since this file isn't updated the schema for the databases doesn't get updated with the proper fields, correct? this would invalidate the patch.

I'm looking for guidance.

that does sound like you have to apply the patch to svn checkout indeed. https://zabbix.org/wiki/Get_Zabbix might provide some initial hints

This patch introduces an error when bootstrap.sh is run,

I managed to successfully install both the server and the agent on debain (squeeze) machines.
I have also set the autentication bit on (enabled) on both sides.
But the UI shows "Get value from agent failed: cannot connect to [[client_ip]:10050]: [111] Connection refused"
Btw, I have tried pinging ant "telnet" the client form the server machine, and that goes through fine.
I have turned on logs (debug mode), but I am not seeing anything...
