    Capacity Panning Issue - Zbx DB is growing to fast

    Hi All,

    My Zbx DB is growing to fast. I started to monitor with Zbx around October.

    I have configured the following amount of items/triggers/host:

    Number of hosts (monitored/not monitored/templates) 181 137 / 8 / 36
    Number of items (monitored/disabled/not supported) 12721 5182 / 6528 / 1011
    Number of triggers (enabled/disabled)[problem/unknown/ok] 3033 2920 / 113 [4 / 376 / 2540] }

    Regarding with my numbers my DB is bigger than the documents suggested.

    My DB is increasing with a rate of 1.5Gb daily.

    I am not sure if the Housekeeping processes is running and if it is running correctly.

    Right now the DB is using 25Gb and the items are configured to run every minutes or more...(no often than that)

    It is not clear for me what happen with data if I change "Trend" time, for example if I change from 365 to 90 and I have collected more than 90 days.

    When it will be deleted the data? will be deleted when the housekeeping processes run or it will be deleted after the year?

    Any suggestions or comments will be welcome!

    Thanks in advance!!!!

    Something definitely seems wrong, as we have more items and triggers than you and our DB grows by about 5GB a month at the moment.

    What does zabbix show for 'new values per second'?

      Do I read this correctly?

      more than 127 thousand items?

        I think it's more likely to be 127? For example, mine reads 108.27 which is just over 108 values per second. Although 127,000 would explain the high disk usage I don't think Zabbix or SQL is capable of processing that many!

        I would think the housekeeping must be to blame, but I'm not sure how to go about troubleshooting that. Maybe set it to once per hour and increase logging? Both settings are in the zabbix server .conf file.

          I am refereing to the "Number of Items", not "new values per second"

            Explanation:

            Parameter | Value | Details
            ----------------------------------------------------------------
            Number of items (monitored/disabled/not supported) | 12721 | 5182 / 6528 / 1011

            Value = 12721
