adding new items Automatically

Dear all
Our company have a lot of modular routers and each module connected to special users.

I created my items and graphs with perl script that used snmwalk as input.

But my problem is , our network engineers sometimes change our router line cards or they try to add new cards on routers

I want to know, is there any way or solutions that help zabbix to dynamically change items or automatically add new line card items?

this will be easier in zabbix 2.0 : http://www.zabbix.com/documentation/...evel_discovery

in 1.8 you might play around with api, but that would not be trivial
