    Ticket/inventory systems and Zabbix

    Hey all,

i was wondering what everyone is using to keep track of their hardware and the events/problems connected with them. I am aware of the profile part of the hosts but there is more than just that on hardware.

Are there some systems that are ready to be integrated with Zabbix for a complete IT management overview?

Hoping to get some information and other insights on this subject.

    Thanks!

ticketing/inventory are quite different topics, though - usually one wants to have tickets created by zabbix automatically or manually, and grab information from the inventory system & populate it in zabbix (although this might change for zabbix 2.0 ).

as for ticketing, i've seen zabbix integrated with bugzilla, computer associates servicedesk (although i couldn't say i enjoyed the product much...), jira, and i've heard about successful integration with otrs - and possibly others i don't recall right now.

    btw, why offtopic ?
seems to be quite on topic to me. should we move this to a more appropriate section ?

      thanks for the input Richlv,

i guess we can move it.

I've been playing around with some open source systems just to get some feeling. I quite like GLPI. Its a french product with a lot of features if you are looking for tickets and inventory together with everything you want to store but it lacks proper KB or WIKI integration for documentation.

But i also can imagine a simpler system like OTRS, osTicket or just Jira/Trac is enough for most people just to keep track on events coming from Zabbix if your task is to just keep eye on ZBX devices.

I'm just wondering what other think on the subject. For myself i would like to see everything in 1 system. My inventory, tickets belonging to the devices coming from Zabbix and users, contracts, ZBX status, software running on them and so on. In the end, at least for me, you want reports giving you a complete overview on what happened with a certain device. ZBX status, service problems, reported problems from users, etc.

You mind raising a tip on the 2.0 change on this inventory matter?

hmm. this still seems quite vague to me. do you have some specific ideas in mind regarding integration ? because i surely hope you don't have in mind reinventing a ticketing system, wiki and whatnot in zabbix

          Trac FTW!

One of my former clients we implemented Trac for their IT ticketing system. It worked well for them and had the added bonus of excellent Wiki integration as well.
