If I go to Configuration -> Actions, select the event source Discovery, click Create Action, and go to the Conditions tab I have a range of conditions that I can apply checks on -- Host IP, Received Value, Discovery status, etc. I can then use things like the received value of some zabbix variable in the condition to determine what type of client has been discovered, so that I can do things like add Linux clients to the Template_Linux template, Windows clients to the Template_Windows template, sort the clients into different groups, etc.
If I select the event source Auto registration and create an event then the only conditions I have available are Host name and proxy. That means I am not able to sort clients into different groups and all of the auto registered clients go into the same group and template.
