    Templates repository

    Hi,

I really like zabbix and I'm using it since version 1.0 but one thing I really miss is a big repository of templates to monitor determinated devices in different details. When I have to start monitoring a new device it's always very annoying to search the interesting parameters their normal values and then add them to zabbix as items, trigers...

Although Alex includes some templates in the first data I think that the zabbix community will easily build an interesting repository for different devices (routers, switchs and OSs) and in different details (according to its importance). Working as a team probably we can get better templates for all of us.

Has anyone done something related? I think that the wiki will be probably the better starting point, Any Ideas?

    R-ds, OScar.

This is an excellent idea. I think it would really help in getting Zabbix more widespread usage.

Something like a cross between the forum cookbook and nagiosexchange.org would be really helpful.

This was the idea behind the wiki

If you would like to contribute, I believe there is a thread in the website section where you can ask for a username and password

i realize the wiki when readily used will be helpful towards this, but what about making it easy to "add" the templates, and setting up a standard method for this? maybe in the 1.2 path have the ability to import/export templates?

I realize that some1 that knows what they are doing can pull the data from the db and generate sql statements, and use the same method for importing, but I think going this route would make the adoption of zabbix a tad easier for the mainstream tech that doesnt necessarily know sql.

i've only been paying attention to the 1.1 path off and on (i'm waiting for final, and have been to busy to read up like i used to so if i restated a current goal i apologize.)
