Yes, you can install zabbix agent on ubuntu server and collect what u want by
"Template SNMP OS Linux"

what you want to Monitor? you can use the "zabbix Agent" template, if installed zabbix Agent on ubuntu

Actually, as per our customer policy that it is not allow to install any agent on their server.
We always used standard protocol like snmp(zabbix) or syslog(ELK) to collect what we want.
