    Zenoss Convert

    Hi,

Just registered first post and all.

I just jumped shipped from Zenoss, long story short, it looks nice but i had trouble with reliability, resource hog, proxy and the hole enterprise version vs core bugged me.

So i've just installed the 1.8 vmware image.

    My thoughts so far.
    - Its not as nice looking as Zenoss
    - Its much much quicker through the web interface
    - Network maps look fantastic, i'll need to spend some time in there
    - LDAP support built in
    - Nice size graphs
    - The message app with audio alerts will be good
    - Fantastic dash

So i installed the rc3 2.0 vmware image
    - The web interface is alot cleaner looking and much user friendly
    - Still has the not so nice looking graphs though, but meh

The next problem is i need a HPUX 11.31 agent, any luck with this? I did a bit of googling and other people were in the same boat.

I'd like to hear from anyone running HPUX 11.31 with the agent and if they are running / monitoring service guard that would be a bonus.

Thanks again, keep up the good work. I don't know why i didn't switch sooner.

I know what you mean but this doesn't matter all that much as long as the interface is functionally sufficient. I do think a drag and drop interface with nested group inheritence would be a big step forward however. That would be a big job though and I understand why it's not part of 2.0.

Be aware that zabbix is not tuned out of the box. There are steps you can take to improve page performance and server-side response by configuring apache and tuning the db. This assumes your zabbix setup is appropriately resourced.

My comments abut drag and drop apply here too.

What's the problem with it? Lack of pre-compiled binaries? Should have thought it would be fairly easy to build as it looks to me like all it would need in addition to the system C library is libldap.

You can replicate most of what the Zabbix agent does with net-snmp, should you not be able to run the agent.
