Migration 1.8 to 2.0

Hi all,

I've got several questions for the migration from 1.8 to 2.0.

I'm pretty sure I read few months later that some new functionnalities of the 2.0 version were only available from a fresh installation and not from a migration. I can't find this now. Am I mistaken? If not, which news possibilities will I loose ?


Do zabbix server 2.0 must "chat" with zabbix agent 2.0 or is there a compatibility with 1.8 version? What functionnalities won't be available if i don't do the migration of my agents?

hi,

yes there is a compatibility with server 2.0 and agent < 2.0.

in my environment i use server 2.0 and agents 2.0 & 1.8.4 & 1.4.6.
The only thing is that some checks are not working (see http://www.zabbix.com/documentation/...s/zabbix_agent)

i don´t know how you plan to migrate your server from 1.8 to 2.0, but as far as i know there is a upgrade script for the database in 2.0.0 stable.

for the server binaries you only have to install/replace them and start it up.

i don´t see any problems.
