    Graph functions sub par

We are switching from Cacti to Zabbix and also changing over from a commercial (VERY EXPENSIVE) alert monitor to zabbix. It appears it will do the job and is very nicely done. HOWEVER, the graphing functions are horrible. Very basic and standard graphing functions are missing. For example (biggest example) log plots. With bandwidth there is no way for a normal network to actually be able to review the activity on their interfaces without log plots. Linear plotting for bandwidth is useless. And when implementing Log plots you need options to set the baseline of the plot. More configuration is needed.

Also, the inability to change fonts on the keys and titles is very annoying. Anyone who has had to manage interfaces where the interface description is 50 or 70 characters knows what I mean. You cannot see the statistics of the graphs because the description is so long and you cannot modify it. The title of the graph has the same problem.

PLEASE, take this very capable program, great interface and very well written system and spend some time on the graphics. With today's utilities and libraries for graphing there is no excuse for the lack of graphing options in this program.

    Thank You

well, features that are being more pushed by companies tend to be implemented first. apparently these haven't been that high on anyones priority list so far

I have seen references to this topic dating back years. I also saw one thread that indicated that the respondent didn't seem to understand what Log plotting was. http://www.zabbix.com/forum/showthre...ht=Logarithmic That thread dated back to 2004. I understand priorities getting done first but 2004, really?

Linear, Log, and Exponential plotting are fundamental to most if not all graphing systems. Being able to manipulate your axis, change scale functions and set baseline values is a necessary function. This is the first time I have seen a plotting system lacking such a basic function. And any company, in fact specifically companies, that have large networks and inconsistent traffic need log plotting to get an accurate picture of their monitor, network traffic in particular, at any given time.

And for the record, I am part of a large company asked to reduce costs by evaluating capable "open source" products to replace extremely costly, out of control commercial packages, just like many companies do. Your system is advertised as an "Enterprise Class" system, all I am pointing out is that it is missing a component that is a must for an enterprise network. I would love to get behind this product and recommend a project to replace our current commercial monitoring system but I am afraid our network engineers will not be able to use the real time graphs in our NOC because of this omission.
